Cape Town is Open for Business
COVID-19 grounded many industries across the world and ours was not spared.
The film industry emerged from hard lockdown with many production companies having lost business and freelancers without jobs. Four months on, we’re getting back on our feet and ready to welcome the world.
With nearly 300 film permits processed since the resumption of work in May, the City of Cape Town’s film office is committed to providing support to the film industry.
Various industry bodies are lobbying with the national government to reopen international travel in order to fully resume operations. Allowing foreign filmmakers into the country for this purpose would help the film industry unlock a range of business opportunities and retain crucial jobs.
With the traditional high season around the corner, increased international business will be crucial to the industry’s long-term survival.
