WHERE WERE YOU TEN YEARS AGO? I was helping run another production company. We were one of 20 in SA; now we're one of 250, maybe 300. I started Razor Sharp Films in 2002.
HOW HAVE THINGS CHANGED IN THE LAST DECADE? We're less reliant on Europe and are doing more business with emerging territories like Russia and India. We can do so much more here. Every year, South Africa has more and more to offer.
BIGGEST LEARNING CURVE? Business acumen, running my own company. Reinventing ourselves on a continual basis through the ups and the downs, through the rand getting stronger and the rand getting weaker, to keep people coming back.
BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT? Access to information. I can access so many more production companies now; everyone has an ID online.
HIGHLIGHT? We do victory dances every time we win a new board with a new client. Working with some of the best people in the world and meeting these amazing creative people on every job. And making The Bird Can't Fly and seeing it travel the world and win awards - I've wanted to make movies since I was a little girl.
TEN YEAR GOAL? To expand the company abroad. To diversify my business, so I'm making a few movies and doing more TV as well as servicing commercials and stills.
