SA scriptwriter on the rise

24-year-old Cape Town-based scriptwriter Marc Bloom has recently optioned two of his screenplays for development.

Heart of Darkness has been optioned by Ryan Fortune of Red Pill Productions, with Tristan Holmes, who won a Student Oscar for Elalini, attached to direct. The screenplay made the finals of the 2008 Horror Screenplay competition in Los Angeles, the semi-finals for the Straight Twisted contest and the quarter finals of the Story Pros screenwriting competition. His other script, Tears of my father, a socio-political drama set in South Africa, has been optioned by Pistoleros Films. Roy Zetisky is set to direct. Marc is represented by The Business of Entertainment.
