Monthly wrap party at the alba lounge

On Thursday 29 July 2010 Film & Event Publishing held its latest Monthly Wrap Party at Alba Lounge Bar in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. An unprecedented 150 members of the local film industry joined us for a night of networking.

On arrival guests took full advantage of the spectacular views from the outside deck, while sipping on Cosmopolitans. Other than its perfect location opposite the water, the venue now boasts a restaurant which serves authentic Italian cuisine, some of which  was sampled on the night.

FilmLight and Blue Tornado used the opportunity to introduce their non-linear colour grading system Baselight with 3D, as well as promoting their free one-day seminar, which took place the following day at Media Hive. The seminar focused on digital workflows, on-set monitoring, stereoscopic, film DIT and colour grading. Baselight, Truelight On-Set and Baselight Transfer were demonstrated.

The Cape Film Commission’s Jacqui Lourens gave an impromptu speech where she touched on the new film sector strategy development which is currently in progress.  Kaiser Associates are already interacting  with industry and some people may have already been contacted around this. She also touched on the CFC’s marketing missions; Minister Alan Winde’s address to industry, which will take place on 30 August 2010; and of course, the CFC’s process of appointing a new CEO. The announcement is scheduled for 1 October 2010.

The Monthly Wrap Parties are a great way to get the scoop first on what’s happening in the local film industry, but its also a chance to unwind at the end of the day, let your hair down, and catch up with colleagues over a drink.

Once again thanks to our sponsors: Panalux, FilmLight, Blue Tornado and The Cape Film Commission. Our next Monthly Wrap Party will be held at the Southern Sun Waterfront on Thursday 26 August 2010.

Film & Event Publishing is the publishing hub that brings you The Callsheet, The Event and The Filmmaker’s Guide to South Africa.
