Final call for entries for the 2012 Loeries

With the mad rush of entries coming in before the deadline, the Loeries is giving entrants until Monday 18 June to get their work submitted online. The flighting eligibility for all work is still 15 June 2012.  Go to www.theloerieawards.co.za to view the categories and guidelines, and to create your entry online.

All winners will be announced at The 34th Annual Loerie Awards at the CTICC during Creative Week Cape Town (15 – 23 September). This year, the Loeries welcomes three new category partners: Antalis – the official partner of the Creative Use of Paper Award, Mail & Guardian – sponsor of the new Rest of Africa & the Middle East category, and Avusa Media – sponsor of the Newspaper category.

All paper-based entries in the Communication Design category are eligible for the Antalis Creative Use of Paper Award. The winner will receive a Gold Loerie and a special prize, courtesy of Antalis South Africa.

“As a proud sponsor of the Loeries 2012 Creative Use of Paper Award, our commitment to the design and printing industry is strengthened. This is another way in which we can reward designers, and recognise design excellence, big ideas and original thinking, which are brought to life through printing on our beautiful range of papers,” says Caroline Coughlan Marketing Manager of Antalis South Africa.

The Mail & Guardian, which has expanded into the African market, has aligned itself with the Loeries Rest of Africa & the Middle East category. This new category aims to better promote the work being produced throughout these regions. Work will be judged separately, allowing improved representation and offering greater exposure to each country’s creative output.

"As the Mail & Guardian pursues its Digital First strategy, it opens up its in-depth reportage, analysis and influencers to readers across the African continent,” says Anastacia Martin, Publisher of the M&G print and online editions. “The building of our online community to reach all 54 states in Africa has become a priority for the M&G group, and we believe that by partnering with the Loeries we will not only spread best practice across the continent, but also enable our new readers and advertisers to recognise the value of these awards."

In addition to the Antalis Creative Use of Paper Award, the following special awards will be given in 2012:

Avusa Newspaper Award: This prize will be awarded to the best entry in the Newspaper category and includes a trip to an international advertising conference for the winning creative team.

ADreach Street-Pole Award: The winning entry will automatically be entered into the outdoor advertising category at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival of Creativity. In addition, the winner gets an all-expenses paid trip for two to attend the event in Cannes.

ADreach Integrated Campaign Award: This prize goes to the winning brand in the Integrated Campaign category. The recipient will receive R100,000 worth of street-pole media space with ADreach.

SABC New Voice Award: Promoting the production of non-English radio advertising. Unlike all other categories, entries can be pro-active and do not need to have flighted. The winner of this special award will receive airtime with SABC, plus a trip for the creative team.

Adams & Adams Young Creatives Award: This award recognises outstanding achievement by talented individuals (aged 27 years or younger) who are at the beginning of their careers working in the brand communication industry. The two recipients each receive a trip to the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival of Creativity. The entry deadline for Adams & Adams Young Creatives is 29 June 2012.
