CALL FOR ENTRIES shnit International Short film festival 2012

Online submissions to the shnit International Shortfilmfestival 2012 (Berne, Cape Town, Cologne, San José, Singapore, Vienna) are open on www.shortfilmdepot.com and www.reelport.com

The festival has run successfully in Cape Town for the last two years. This year sees its return to the city bowl as well as to Rocking the Daisies Music and Lifestyle Festival, celebrating the best in local and international short films of the past year. This year the festival runs simultaneously in Cape Town, Berne (Switzerland), Cologne (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Singapore and San Jose (Costa Rica), with new countries set to be announced. 


FESTIVAL DATES: October 3 – 7, 2012

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION «shnit OPEN 2012»
Registration deadline: 1st of July 2012
Registration fee: no fee
Preview copy: DVD or File transfer (uploaded on Shortfilmdepot or Reelport)

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: July 2010
2) Maximum running time: 40 minutes (including credits)
3) Country of production: all
4) Accepted screening formats: Quicktime 1080p, Video Codec: Apple ProRes 422 HQ (or an equivalent digital file), MOV, MPEG-4, MKV. (sent on DATA-DVD or BluRay / Hard Drive or USB pen drive / by FTP, online sending service or e-mail)
5) Genres accepted: all genres accepted
6) if the dialogue language is not English there need to be subtitles

The following prizes will be awarded in the international competition «shnit OPEN 2012»:

JURY AWARDS:
Category up to 5 Minutes* - CHF 20,000 (~ € 16,000 ~ $ 22,000)
Category up to10 Minutes* - CHF 20,000 (~ € 16,000 ~ $ 22,000)
Category up to 20 Minutes* - CHF 20,000 (~ € 16,000 ~ $ 22,000)
NEW: Category up to 40 Minutes* - CHF 20,000 (~ € 16,000 ~ $ 22,000)
* (including credits)

AUDIENCE AWARD:
all films participating in the international competition «shnit OPEN 2012»
CHF 20,000 (~ € 16,000 ~ $ 22,000)

Additionally your film may take part within the SA national competition for additional prizes.

Note: There is no single application for the categories or the national competitions all the films will be chosen from the submitted films to the international competition «shnit OPEN 2012».

Please send your film(s) either by transferring a video file uploaded by shipping a DVD.
