Knysna Film Festival
The Knysna Film Festival aims to give filmmakers an opportunity to engage intimate audiences about their films. The organizers believe in diversity, not only of people but of films.
Live the experience as audience is everything. This includes filmmakers, industry professionals and the public.
All film submissions can be made via FilmFreeway: SUBMIT HERE
The late deadline for submissions is 1 August, with the extended deadline 31 August.
The festival takes place from 29 October to 2 November 2019.
For first time visitors to the region, the Garden Route is a unique area with a vast diversity of locations and a wealth of local creative talent. As an emerging film industry area, the Garden Route has incentives and ease of permitting to promote the region as a new destination for film. The film festival is a first major step in promoting local and international filmmakers and the region.
The venues are hosted on Thesen Island and in the Knysna Waterfront to encourage not only industry players, but also local and international visitors. Knysna has a diversity of activities in the local surrounds and Knysna Tourism will be doing Fam Tours for industry whilst they are in attendance.
The festival will also see the launch of the ‘Intimater’ project to maximize exposure for the film at the festival and the ‘Match’ program looks to encourage education in films, with events, social networking opportunities, workshops and discussion panels. The final night of the festival ends off with the awards gala event.
