Meet your BET Breaks 2019 host


The Callsheet chatted with 23-year-old Nomalanga Shozi who is currently a TV Personality, actress and radio host. Nomalanga has joined the home of Hustle In Brooklyn and Made In Africa; BET in Africa. She is the new face for the channel where she will feature in content On-Air and on the ground.

What would you like to say to the rest of South Africa and the world?

Nomalanga Shozi: Firstly, I promise to entertain African audiences through captivating epic trends and news updates from Africa and abroad. I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to represent the continent and I think the show will create a special place in the hearts of African youth, while also providing the global platform to share the great stories that are happening here on our home soil.

Where did you grow up and how did you get into this industry?

Nomalanga Shozi: I was born and raised in the remote Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal and started my career as a Radio Presenter on Ugu Youth Radio. After I made positive progress in the media industry, it really wasn’t long before I moved to Gagasi Youth Station in KwaZulu-Natal.

What are some of your greatest achievements?

Nomalanga Shozi: I’ve hosted quite a few Viacom International Media Networks Africa events, including the recently launched BET’s The Bobby Brown Story and live broadcasts during the MTV Road to MAMAs 2015. I also featured in the award-winning local soapie Rhythm City after beating over five thousand hopefuls.

How did you feel reporting from the Soul Train Awards for BET in Africa?

Nomalanga Shozi: It was truly an honour. I met many respectable entertainers like Faith Evans, SZA, Normani, Kelly Price and Robert Glasper. It was an experience of a lifetime and this is just the beginning of many more thrills I will be privileged to enjoy! Thanks to BET in Africa for entrusting me with this opportunity.

In the new year Nomalanga will serve as the host of the local version of the international format; BET Breaks. The show is all laughs, juice and drama as fans can catch-up on the latest, hottest gossip and news from global and local celebrities.
