International Animation Day Art Auction

Film & Event Publishing's next monthly wrap party will be held on International Animation Day, 28 October 2010, at 15 on Orange Hotel in Cape Town at 18:00. Animation software company Touchvision is sponsoring an animation screening and art auction, which will feature donated work from William Kentridge, Ric Capecchi, Ed Babb and Shan Fischer. Proceeds will go towards AnimationSA's running costs as the industry representative body for the local animation industry. Due to a record response, RSVPs for the night are now closed.

Based in Cape Town and Johannesburg, Touchvision Digital Media Solutions are solutions providers to the film, TV and content creation markets. Touchvision is a founder  member of AnimationSA and its training facility is playing an integral role in what has become known as The Animation Industry Development Initiative (AIDI). The first phase of AIDI saw the recruitment of  fresh, young talent within the Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha communities. This talent is undergoing traditional and 2D digital animation-related training at Touchvision's training facilities in De Waterkant.

Touchvision, together with AnimationSA, and with the support of Services Seta, are committed to creating a strong and competitive home-grown animation industry. The overall aim of the AIDI is to create 10 000 jobs within the animation industry by 2020.
