Fresh Eye’s Supa Directs DStv Care More Promo

Recent addition to Fresh Eye Film Productions, director Supa Mbele, has finished off his first project for the company, a DStv Care More initiative commercial. Over the years DStv has given viewers the opportunity to give back to their communities through various initiatives.

In the latest call for nominations, DStv subscriber Ayanda Khubeka proposed Rena Le Lona, a children’s centre where orphaned and vulnerable children can discover their unique creativity and deal with their trauma through art and expression. The promo was shot at Rena Le Lona Children’s Centre to capture the children’s daily lives on camera, highlighting what their needs are and how they are being met through the everyday activities at the centre.

“Unlike many other commercials, finding a location or designing a set was not necessary. The ideal location was the centre itself. The aim of the promo is twofold, inform people as to what the centre does and to inspire other children facing similar situations by letting them know that anything is possible,” says Brian Critchfield producer for Fresh Eye.

“The thorough pre-production for the shoot made the process that much easier. The shoot was done in a natural and relaxed atmosphere showing the children doing things that inspire them, such as painting, reading and stage performances. The brief was to tell the story of the environment and the benefits the centre gives to the community. We knew that in shooting something so real, the right images were going to tell the story for us. The aim was to make people feel and get inspired by what they see,” concludes Supa.
