The world of film technology is forever innovating, and keeping up with the latest trends and developments can be a full-time job. On the one hand, it might seem that we’ve reached our technological peak – with even smartphones now able to shoot in 4K+ resolution – but
in many other ways, technology continues to develop and change.
Dramatic improvements in workflow software, for instance, are reshaping the relationships between colleagues and collaborators. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are encouraging filmmakers to think beyond the standard formats. Moreover, improved processing speeds make 3-D tech more possible than ever before. Another shift in filmmaking has been the continued rise of new platforms that have allowed for self-dissemination of quality content.
